I. Products – Leather Hats
Q1: What type of leather do you use for your hats?
A: All of our leather hats are crafted from 100% genuine full-grain leather. This is the highest quality grade of leather available. Unlike corrected-grain or bonded leather, full-grain leather retains the natural grain and texture of the original hide, making each hat unique. It ages beautifully, developing a rich patina over time while remaining durable and water-resistant.
Our leather is sourced from ethical tanneries that follow environmentally responsible practices. We never use cheap split leather or synthetic substitutes.
Q2: Are your leather hats one size fits all?
A: No. Leather hats should fit properly to look and feel good. We offer multiple sizes:

How to measure: Use a flexible measuring tape. Wrap it around your head approximately 1 inch above your eyebrows and ears, where a hat would naturally sit. Keep the tape level and snug but not tight. If you fall between sizes, we recommend sizing up for comfort.
Q3: Can I adjust the fit of my leather hat?
A: Yes. Most of our leather hats feature an internal adjustable sweatband with a drawstring or Velcro closure. This allows you to fine-tune the fit by up to approximately 0.5 inches (1.5 cm). For hats without an adjustable band, the leather will naturally conform to your head shape over time with regular wear.
Q4: Will the hat shrink or stretch over time?
A: Leather is a natural material that responds to its environment. In very wet conditions, leather may temporarily tighten; in extreme heat, it may relax slightly. However, properly cared-for full-grain leather maintains its shape well. We recommend storing your hat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid leaving it in a hot car or wearing it in heavy rain for extended periods.
Q5: Are your hats suitable for outdoor use in sun/rain?
A: Our leather hats are treated with a light water-resistant coating that repels light rain and moisture. They also offer natural UV protection due to the density of the leather. However, they are not fully waterproof. For heavy rain, we recommend using a leather protectant spray (available at most shoe stores) and allowing the hat to dry naturally away from direct heat if it gets wet.
For sun protection, leather provides excellent coverage, but the hat’s brim size determines how much shade your face and neck receive. Check individual product listings for brim measurements.

A: Absolutely. While our specialty is custom engraving, we understand that some customers prefer a plain, unadorned leather hat. All of our hat product pages include an option to select “No Engraving” or “Plain Leather” before adding to cart. Prices are the same for plain and engraved hats.
Q8: How long will my engraved leather hat last?
A: With proper care, a full-grain leather hat from MC Craft LLC can last 10-20 years or more. The leather itself is extremely durable, and our laser engraving is permanent – it will never fade, peel, or wear off. Many customers tell us they plan to pass their engraved hats down as heirlooms. The only wear you may notice is a natural darkening and softening of the leather over time, which most people find desirable.

Yes. Our laser engraving process creates a permanent mark that is etched into the glass surface. It will not fade, wash off, or wear away in residential or commercial dishwashers. However, we do recommend using the top rack for extra protection and avoiding harsh, abrasive detergents that could scratch the non-engraved portions of the glass.
Hand washing with mild soap and a soft sponge is always safe and will keep your glasses looking pristine for years.

A: Yes, for an additional fee. Our standard engraving is on one side of the glass. Double-sided engraving is available – simply select “Double-Sided” option at checkout and provide instructions for both sides. Note that double-sided engraving may reduce the usable drinking area for very large designs, so we recommend keeping designs on each side relatively simple.

A: Our process is simple and customer-friendly:

Step 3: At checkout, provide any additional instructions in the notes field
Step 4: Within 24-48 hours, our design team emails you a digital proof (mockup) showing how your engraving will appear
Step 5: You approve the proof or request changes (up to 2 rounds of revisions included)
Step 6: Once approved, we produce and ship your item within 1-3 business days
Important: Orders are not produced until you approve the proof. If we don’t hear from you within 48 hours, we may proceed based on your original submission.
Q17: What file formats do you accept for custom designs?

Q23: How deep is the engraving? Can I feel it?
A: On leather, our laser engraving is approximately 0.5-1mm deep. You can definitely feel the texture – it creates a slight indentation with a smooth, slightly recessed surface. This depth ensures permanence without compromising the leather’s integrity.
On glass, the engraving is shallower (approximately 0.1-0.3mm) but still permanent. You can feel a slight texture with your fingernail, but the surface remains smooth enough for comfortable drinking.
Q24: Do you offer color filling for engravings?
A: For leather hats, we offer optional color filling in select colors (white, black, gold, silver, red, blue). Color filling involves applying a specialized paint into the engraved recesses, then wiping away excess. This makes the engraving more visible, especially on dark leather.
For whiskey glasses, color filling is not available as it would not be food-safe and would wash off. Engraved glass is meant to be appreciated for its subtle, elegant frosted appearance.

A: No. Laser engraving on glass is permanent. The laser physically removes a microscopic layer of glass, creating a frosted texture that cannot be washed away or worn off. The only way to remove it would be to sand or grind the surface, which would destroy the glass.
